Within the Operational Excellence Service department, we currently have a vacancy for a PhD PROCESS CHEMIST with leadership skills

Location: Ghent - Belgium

This is the Role

As process chemist, you will be accountable for leading and contributing to process improvement and quality investigation projects. This is an excellent growth opportunity if you are interested in leading projects and/or project teams.

As process chemist, you

  • identify and resolve quality, consistency and processing issues encountered with new or existing formulations with root cause analysis using statistical analysis tools.
  • identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement changes (scale-up model and procedures, processing etc.)
  • provide engineering support (DOE designs, processing studies, data analysis, formulation/processing recommendations, and test batch) to technical organizations throughout product development to ensure new product launch success.
  • have frequent and direct interaction with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Technology and various support groups.

 Required background & qualifications

  • (Bio)-Chemical Engineer PhD degree; first working experience is considered as a plus
  • Broad background in physical properties of polymers, experience in polymer processing of masterbatch formulations is considered as a plus
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
  • Good analytical skills and statistical insight
  • High level of initiative and leadership ability
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Experience: Design of Experiment, Minitab, and/or 6-sigma training preferred
  • Willingness to travel as required (max. 10%)
