Eastman Chemical Company has an immediate opening for Laboratory Analyst in the Akron Rubber Laboratory.  The rubber laboratory functions as both a research lab and quality control lab for Eastman products developed and used in the rubber industry.  In addition, the rubber laboratory provides operational support to production facilities in the Americas, Europe, and Asia/Pacific regions. The lab works closely with the Tire Additives research and development teams to provide research support in new product development and quality assurance of our products.  

 

Applicant Responsibilities would include:

  •   Performing routine sample analysis including, but not limited to:
  •   Accurate and precise weighing of chemicals
  •   Ability to follow sample preparation in accordance with customer requests
  •   Operating internal mixers and two-roll mills
  •   Perform Physical, Mechanical, and Rheological testing using automatic and manual laboratory instrumentation
  •   Work safely around chemicals and machinery
  •   Follow Standard Operating Procedures
  •   Maintain a clean work area
  •   Assist in preventative maintanence of equipment
  •   Using a Laboratory Information System to report results
  •    Supporting all initiatives to improve the laboratory

 

Requirements would include:

  •   Minimal Education level – High School Graduate or equivalent
  •   Ability to function in a high-paced, quality-focused laboratory environment.
  •   Ability to work in high-performing teams both safely and responsibly.
  •   High sense of urgency and self-starter mentality

 

An ideal candidate would possess the following:

  •  Previous laboratory experience
  •  Familiar with ASTM testing
  •  Experience with internal mixers
  •  Mechanical Aptitude
  •  Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
